Control of metabolic and inflammatory pathways by nuclear receptors

  • Description: The Marie Curie Initial Training Network, NR-NET for short, is such a multidisciplinary network which aims to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer between eight leading European research groups and two SME partners. We analyze the role of nuclear receptors and coregulators in inflammatory diseases. The study of metabolic diseases connected to chronic inflammations can contribute to a better understanding of the pathogenesis of a wide range of diseases. As many nuclear receptors are capable of directly detecting metabolic changes, we can look at them as the important endogenous modulators of metaflammatory pathways, which further widen the repertoire of those diseases, in which we can interfere with nuclear receptor regulating drugs. The objective of the NR-NET project is to provide inportant new imformation on fundamental biological processes, which play a role in the functioning of the epigenetic regulation of gene expression by nuclear receptors.
