Transglutaminase in disease: a novel therapeutic target?

Academic head of project management: László Fésüs

  • Title of project: A transzglutamináz szerepe a betegségekben: egy új terápiás célpont?
  • Type of grant: FP7-PEOPLE-2011-ITN
  • Description: The research conducted as part of the project basically takes place in cell and molecular biology systems. The objective of the research is to further deepen basic and applied research regarding human diseases connected to transglutaminase. The process focuses primarily on tissue transglutaminase (TG2), especially on how the enzyme is transported to the extracellular matrix and how this affects cell migration and matrix deposition, which is important in wound healing, cancer, multiple sclerosis, and celiac diseases.
  • The duration of the project: November 1, 2011 – October 31, 2015
  • Actual total cost: 217.250 (EUR)
  • Type of research: Basic
